If you've been following me for any amount of time, then you already know how I feel about pizza or anything that resembles pizza. I love it!
It's one of my favorite things to eat. There is something magical about the combination of soft dough, sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. They're just so many possibilities when it comes to pizza. I try to infuse pizza flavors into anything that I can or come up with new ways to make pizza. Recently I decided to try making pepperoni bread and I must say that it came out delicious.
This bread contains a slightly crispy outer layer but is soft and tender on the inside. It's also super cheesy because it's made with three different kinds of cheese and seasoned really well with a spice blend. Then you dip the bread in your favorite marinara sauce which adds another layer of flavor and really brings the recipe together.
Let's get started.

Ingredients You'll Need
- Pizza Dough - The vessel used to roll up the ingredients and make the bread. May make your own homemade pizza dough from scratch or purchase a premade dough from your local grocery store or bakery.
- American Cheese - Try using white American cheese (white sharp cheddar) for a mild cheesy flavor that pairs well with the rest of the bread ingredients.
- Mozzarella Cheese - A staple cheese when it comes to pizza because it melts very well and provides that cheese pull that everyone loves.
- Pepperoni - The star of this recipe! It is pilled into the center of the bread to give that meaty and slightly salty flavor. For this recipe, I prefer to use regular pepperoni, but you may also use turkey pepperoni as well if you prefer.
- Parmesan Cheese - The third cheese needed in this recipe and is a classic cheese that is commonly used to top pizza. Try using a block of cheese and grating it yourself instead of using the bagged version.
- Pizza Seasoning - A spice blend that is a combination of garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, plus a few other spices. It provides seasoning for the bread and brings out the other flavors in the bread recipe.
- Marinara Sauce - Used to dip the finished bread in for additional pizza-inspired flavor, use any that you prefer.

What kind of pizza dough works best for pepperoni rolls?
You may use either homemade pizza dough or store-bought dough, either is fine. These rolls have been made by using canned pizza dough, canned biscuits, and pizza dough purchased from the bakery. If you need a homemade recipe to make, then be sure to try making my recipe for Homemade Pizza Crust.
Step By Step Instructions
Begin the recipe by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Roll the pizza dough out to about a 14-inch circle.
Top evenly with the white American cheese in an even single layer. Evenly spread on the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Sprinkle with pizza seasoning and lay the pepperoni all over in a single layer.
Tightly roll it like a jelly roll, starting from the longest end and connecting it to the other end. Pinch the seam to close.
Place the roll on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Use a small paring knife to make a few slices over the top to allow room for the steam to escape.
Place into the oven to bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown. Carefully remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before cutting to serve.
Serve the cheesy pepperoni bread while it is still warm with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Try to roll the bread as tightly as possible because it will loosen a bit while baking.
- May use shredded white American cheese or ½ pound of white American cheese slices instead.
- Feel free to substitute any cheese that you prefer instead of white American cheese. May use Monterey cheese or sharp white cheddar.
- If you do not have any pizza seasoning then make your own by mixing together paprika, salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes.
Storage
The pepperoni bread rolls can be served warmly straight from the oven or at room temperature. If you have any leftovers, they will need to be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
When you're ready to serve the leftovers, then be sure to reheat them inside the oven or microwave. The pizza rolls are good for up to 3 days after baking, they can also be frozen in the freezer in some plastic wrap or a freezer bag for up to 3 weeks.

Kylie
This recipe was quick, easy, and delicious!! I used biscuit dough because we didn't have pizza dough and it turned out great! Did a quick egg wash before the oven too so it would get a little darker brown crust on the outside. My 3 year old and husband both LOVED this dinner so we are definitely adding it to our monthly dinner rotation!! Thanks so much for a great recipe, LaKita!!
