If you've been following me for any amount of time, then you already know how I feel about pizza or anything that resembles pizza. I love it!
It's one of my favorite things to eat. There is something magical about the combination of soft dough, sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. They're so many possibilities when it comes to pizza. I try to infuse pizza flavors into anything that I can or come up with new ways to make pizza. Recently I decided to try making pepperoni bread and I must say that it came out delicious.
This pepperoni pizza bread contains a slightly crispy outer layer but is soft and tender on the inside. It's also super cheesy because it's made with three different kinds of cheese and seasoned well with a tasty spice blend. Dip the bread in your favorite marinara sauce which adds another layer of flavor and brings the recipe together.
Let's get started.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Great Finger Foodย - This easy recipe is great to share on game days or as a fun main meal when paired with a salad or wings. It's completely portable, like having a walking pizza.ย
- Fun Recipeย - Kid-friendly and a great recipe for the kids to help make.ย
- Versatileย - Almost any bread dough can be used to make this recipe. Try using your favorite pizza or biscuit dough.ย
Pepperoni Bread Recipe Ingredients
- Pizza Doughย - The vessel used to roll up the ingredients and make the bread. You may make your homemade pizza dough from scratch or purchase a premade dough from your local grocery store or bakery.
- American Cheeseย - Try using white American cheese (white sharp cheddar) for a mild cheesy flavor that pairs well with the rest of the bread ingredients.
- Mozzarella Cheeseย - A staple cheese for pizza because it melts very well and provides that nice cheese pull that everyone loves.
- Pepperoniย - The star of this recipe! It is piled into the center of the bread to give it that meaty and slightly salty flavor. For this recipe, I prefer to use regular pepperoni, but you may use turkey pepperoni instead if you prefer.
- Parmesan Cheeseย - The third cheese needed in this recipe and is a classic cheese that's commonly used to top pizza. Try using a block of cheese and grating it yourself instead of using the bagged version.
- Pizza Seasoningย - A spice blend that's a combination of garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, plus a few other spices. It provides seasoning for the bread and brings out the other ingredient flavors in the bread recipe. Italian seasoning could be used as a substitute.ย
- Marinara Sauceย - Used to dip the finished bread in for more pizza-inspired flavor, use any pizza sauce you prefer.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient quantities and instructions.
What Kind Of Pizza Dough Works Best For Pepperoni Cheese Bread?

How to Make Pepperoni Bread
Begin the easy pepperoni bread by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Roll the pizza dough out to about a 14-inch circle.
Top evenly with the white American cheese in an even single layer. Evenly spread on the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
Sprinkle with pizza seasoning and lay the pepperoni all over in a single layer. It's okay if the pepperoni slices overlap each other.ย
Want To Save This Recipe?
Tightly roll it like a jelly roll, starting from the longest end and connecting it to the other end. Pinch the seam to close.
Place the roll on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Use a small paring knife to make a few slices over the top to allow room for the steam to escape.
Place into the oven to bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown. Carefully remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing to serve.
Serve the cheesy pepperoni bread while it is still warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Try to roll the pepperoni bread as tightly as possible because it will loosen a bit while baking.ย
- You may use shredded white American cheese or half a pound of white American cheese slices instead.
- Feel free to substitute any cheese that you prefer instead of white American cheese. Try using Monterey cheese, provolone cheese, or sharp white cheddar.ย
- If you do not have any pizza seasoning then make your own by mixing together paprika, salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes.ย
- Before baking you can use a pastry brush to spread a quick egg wash all over the top before baking.ย
Storage Tips
Storage. The pepperoni bread rolls can be served warmly straight from the oven or at room temperature. If you have any leftovers, they can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container, aluminum foil, or plastic storage bag. The pepperoni rolls are good for up to 3 days after baking.
Reheating. When you're ready to serve the leftovers, then be sure to reheat them inside the oven at 350 degrees until warm or in the microwave.
Freezing. They can also be stored long-term in the freezer tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or in a freezer bag for up to 3 weeks.

This recipe was quick, easy, and delicious!! I used biscuit dough because we didn't have pizza dough and it turned out great! Did a quick egg wash before the oven too so it would get a little darker brown crust on the outside. My 3 year old and husband both LOVED this dinner so we are definitely adding it to our monthly dinner rotation!! Thanks so much for a great recipe, LaKita!!
LaKita says
