No-Bake Energy Bites is a delicious and easy to make snack that is the perfect burst of energy for those time when you need something healthy and sweet.
Sometimes I crave a healthy snack that tastes more like dessert. Basically rich, sweet, and delicious. It is even better if the snack is also packed with ingredients that are sure to boost my energy without requiring the use of the oven.
No-Bake Energy Bites are the perfect snack to help with that. It is loaded with flavor, sweetened with honey and chocolate, plus contains fiber and a good amount of healthy fat.
How do you make No-Bake Energy Bites?
This recipe begins with adding oats and coconut to a food processor and pulsing until it resembles a coarse meal.
Next, add in all of the other ingredients and process until the mixture comes together and sticks onto itself.
Remove and form into ball shapes. Place in the refrigerator or freezer to allow them to set until firm and enjoy.
Can You Eat Raw Oats in Energy Bites?
This recipe requires raw rolled oats. It is perfectly fine to eat uncooked oats in this recipe. Make sure to use rolled oats also known as old fashioned oats. Instant oats or quick-cooking oats can be substituted instead, just be sure to check the ingredient list on the package that it is rolled oats cut into smaller pieces only and no other ingredients. I would not use steel-cut oats for this recipe. If you prefer to use gluten-free rolled oats, those work well.
Can Energy Bites be Frozen?
Energy Bites can definitely be frozen or stored in the freezer. If stored in the freezer make sure it is in an airtight container or plastic freezer bag. Allow the energy bites to thaw for a few minutes before serving. Storing in the freezer will extend the freshness of the energy bites by another week.
Tips for Making the Best No-Bake Energy Bites:
- Make sure to use ground flaxseed or flaxseed meal instead of whole flaxseeds.
- If the mixture is loose and not sticking together when forming a ball, add in a little more peanut butter or honey.
- May place loose mixture into the refrigerator to firm up for a few minutes before forming into little balls.
- May substitute the peanut butter for almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or cashew butter
- Can use sweetened coconut instead.
- If you do not have a food processor, mix by hand using a medium-size bowl.
