That's exactly what you'll get with this delicious salmon recipe. The spicy sriracha sauce paired with a combination of honey plus a few other simple ingredients to make an amazing glaze to top a piece of baked salmon is the best way to enjoy salmon if you ask me. If you're a fan of salmon, then you're going to love this recipe.
Let's get started!
Ingredients for Honey Sriracha Salmon
- Salmon - Any type of salmon that you prefer will pretty much work for this recipe. I'm using salmon with the skin on because it holds the salmon together well, helps to hold in the flavors, and keeps the salmon juicy. Skin off, wild-caught salmon, sockeye salmon, or even farm-raised salmon are all good options as well.
- Sriracha - This chili sauce adds the perfect amount of heat with a slight amount of sweetness. Pairs well with the honey to add the perfect balance of spicy and sweet flavor.
- Honey - Adds a sweet and delicious flavor that helps to balance the spicy flavors in the sriracha sauce. Also forms the sticky element of the salmon glaze to help it bind to the salmon. Maple syrup could be used instead in the same unit of measure.
- Soy Sauce - Gives the salmon dish that salty and umami flavor. Low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos are great substitutes. Your favorite hot sauce could be substituted.
- Rice Vinegar - Adds in some much needed acid to the glaze that cuts through the spicy and sweet flavor with a bit of tanginess. May substitute with white wine vinegar or distilled vinegar instead.
- Garlic - Two cloves of fresh garlic minced add an earthy and slightly pungent flavor to the glaze. May use more if you prefer.
- Ginger - Grate some fresh ginger to give the sauce an aromatic and slightly spicy flavor. Be sure to use fresh ginger and not ground ginger. Ginger paste could be used as a substitute.
- Salt & Ground Black Pepper - Seasons the salmon filets and brings out the flavors of the overall dish.

How to Make Sriracha Honey Salmon
Begin the recipe by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Prepare the salmon fillets by placing them on the prepared baking sheet, skin side down. Evenly season them with salt and ground black pepper. Set aside.
Using a small bowl, whisk together the honey, sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger until combined.
Use a basting brush, generously brush each piece of salmon all over coating them evenly in the honey sriracha glaze. If you have any extra sauce, you can drizzle it evenly on top of each piece of salmon or save it for later to enjoy with the cooked salmon.
Place the salmon into the oven and bake for about 8 to 10 minutes, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Keep in mind cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the salmon.
Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow it time to cool for about 2 to 3 minutes before serving. Serve warm topped with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and some chopped green onions. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Choose good high-quality salmon for the best flavor and texture. Look for salmon that is firm, moist, and has a bright vibrant color.
- Be sure to use parchment paper to line the sheet pan to prevent the salmon from sticking and make cleanup easier. When placing the salmon on the parchment-lined pan, leave some space between each piece of salmon to allow for even cooking.
- Do not overbake the salmon! Bake it until it's cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Overcooking will result in dry and chewy salmon.
- Brush each salmon fillet generously with the honey sriracha glaze on the top and sides. You can reserve some of the glaze to brush on halfway through baking or drizzle on the finished salmon before serving.
- Enjoy immediately! Try to serve the same hot, straight from the oven. This is when it's at its best in my opinion.
What to Serve with Sweet and Spicy Salmon
Honey sriracha salmon pairs well with a variety of side dishes that complement its sweet, spicy flavors and provide balance to the meal. Here are some delicious options to consider:
- Steamed Rice: Serve with white rice or brown rice to soak up the flavorful honey sriracha salmon glaze. Cauliflower rice or coconut rice are great options as well.
- Mashed Potatoes: For a comforting and hearty side dish, try pairing it with some Creamy Mashed Potatoes.
- Salad or Mixed Salad Greens: A simple salad or bed of mixed greens provides a fresh contrast to the rich and spicy salmon.
- Roasted or Sauteed Vegetables: Prepare your favorite mixed vegetables in a large skillet on the stovetop or roast in the oven for a healthy vegetable option.
- Make it a Bowl: Try making salmon rice bowls or honey sriracha salmon bowls by adding baked salmon, rice, and vegetables to a tasty bowl to make a healthy dinner option.
Storage Tips
Storage. If you have any leftover salmon, allow it time to cool to room temperature before placing it into an airtight container, or wrapping it in aluminum foil, and storing it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
Reheating. When you're ready to serve the salmon again, reheat it on the stovetop in a large skillet over medium heat until warm or in the oven at 300 degrees F. It can also be reheated in the microwave or the air fryer if you're short on time.
