This post has been sponsored by California Cling Peaches. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Do you know what day it is?

It is National Eat a Peach Day! Honestly, I did not know this was even a thing until last month. I am so surprised that I did not know anything about this day before because I absolutely love peaches and try to share as many recipes that use them as possible.

The fresh peach season here in Florida has come to an end, but that does not stop me from enjoying the use of peaches in recipes all year long. A fun tip to help you do the same, move in a little closer so I can tell you that I stock my pantry with canned peaches to use anytime.

Keeping cans of peaches in my pantry is so perfect because it ensures that I'm always prepared for a recipe any time the mood hits me. I can also use them in smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, or as a tasty snack. It also helps me limit my trips to the grocery store during these pandemic times.

I especially enjoy using California Cling Peaches.

    Why use California Cling Peaches?

California Cling Peaches are available all year long at most local grocery stores in cans, jars, and single-serve cups. This makes them always ready, always, affordable, always delicious, and perfect for your pantry. The California Cling Peach farmers are leaders in growing and harvesting the highest quality, safest, best tasting, and most economical cling peaches in the world.

When looking for them in your local grocery store be sure to check the label for USA/California Grown to make sure you’re getting the best Cling peaches available. A great way to use cling peaches and take advantage of National Eat a Peach Day is by making a simple batch of cling peach sweet tea.

What ingredients to make California Cling Peach Sweet Tea?

    1. Water
    2. Tea
    3. Cane sugar (granulated sugar)
    4. Canned California Cling Peaches
    5. Ice

How to make this peach tea recipe:

Begin the recipe by grabbing a can of California Cling Peaches. Today I will be using the canned sliced Cling peaches for this recipe. Using a small sauce pan add the can of California Cling Peaches, water, and sugar.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and use a wooden spoon to stir and crush the cling peaches to infuse the flavor into the syrup mixture. Make sure the sugar has completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat, cover, and allow it to cool and thicken for 25 to 30 minutes.

While you wait, begin making the tea by boiling some water. Carefully pour the hot water into a pitcher and add the tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard.

Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the cling peaches out of the syrup mixture. You can save them for later to add to yogurt or oatmeal.

Add the syrup mixture to the pitcher with the tea and fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water or ice if serving immediately. If not serving immediately store the pitcher in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 1 can (15 ounces) sliced California Cling Peaches
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup cane sugar (granulated sugar)
    • 6 cups water
    • 4 tea bags (regular size) black tea
    • ice

    Instructions

    • Using a small sauce pan add a full 15 ounce can of California Cling Peaches, 1 cup water, and 1 cup cane sugar.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and use a wooden spoon to stir and crush the cling peaches to infuse the flavor into the syrup mixture.
    • Make sure the cane sugar has completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat, cover, and allow it to cool and thicken for 25 to 30 minutes.
    • While you wait, begin making the tea by boiling some water. Carefully pour the hot water into a pitcher and add the tea bags. Allow the black tea to steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard.
    • Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the cling peaches out of the syrup mixture. You can save them for later to add to yogurt or oatmeal.
    • Add the simple syrup mixture to the pitcher with the black tea and fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water or ice if serving immediately. If not serving immediately store the pitcher in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
    • Store any leftovers in a pitcher in the refrigerator up to 3 days.

    Notes

    • Recipe makes about 10 cups of tea.
    • For a stronger and sweeter tea, omit filling the pitcher with the additional water.
    • Add cling peaches and liquid from the can into the sauce pan to make the simple syrup.
    • May use a sugar alternative for the recipe as long as it is granulated sugar. For a sweeter tea, add an additional 1 cup of sugar to the recipe.
    • Feel free to make tea a day in advance and store in the refrigerator to serve chilled.
