This peach margarita is simple to make, sweet, and delicious. Made with tequila, peach puree, lime juice, orange-flavor liqueur, and sweetner. Perfect to make and enjoy any time!
Recently I have been enjoying all the recipes with peaches that I can. It gives me an excuse to take full advantage of the short peach season.
I have also been experimenting with margaritas and coming up with as many variations of this cocktail that I can. I've shared a recipe for a Cherry Margarita, Kombucha Margarita, as well as a Jalapeno Margarita. These are all unique and delicious in their own way, but I felt that it would only be right to combine my love of peaches in a refreshing margarita.
The peaches give this margarita a rich and sweet flavor that pairs well with the lime and orange flavors. Rim the glass with a little brown sugar for the ultimate flavor experience with this drink.
Trust me, you want to give this drink a try at your next at-home cocktail hour.
What ingredients are needed for this peach margarita recipe?
- Tequila โ This truly comes down to preference, for this recipe I chose to use reposado tequila. This tequila is aged in oak for two months up to a year and this softens the taste a bit making it perfect for using in any margarita recipe. Other tequilas that are available are blanco, joven, anejo, and mixto.
- Peach puree โ For this ingredient, you may substitute 1 tablespoon of peach preserves. I prefer to use a snack pack of peaches in water and blend to get peach puree. You may also use canned peaches or fresh peaches with water.
- Lime juice โ Use fresh limes for the juice or a lime juice that is 100% lime juice without any other additional ingredients. This is the most important part of the margarita in my opinion, so fresh lime juice is the best option to use.
- Orange-flavored liqueur โ For this, you may choose to substitute orange juice. However, some particular brands of orange-flavored liqueur that are available are Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier, and Curaรงao. Go with whichever you prefer, I enjoy Cointreau personally to make my margaritas.
- Maple syrup โ This twist really takes the flavor of the margarita up a notch. It provides so much depth and I prefer to use it instead of simple syrup. If you prefer to use simple syrup, simply mix one part cane sugar and mix with one part warm water until the sugar dissolves.
- Salt or sugar โ Coarse sea salt, kosher salt, or large flake salt will work the best to rim the margarita glass. If you prefer to use sugar, then I love to use raw cane sugar.
- Ice โ Crushed or cubed. For a frozen version, add all of the ingredients into a blender along with the ice and blend to your desired texture/smoothness.
How to make a peach margarita from scratch:
Begin the recipe by using a cocktail shaker or jar with a lid to combine together the tequila, peach puree, lime juice, orange-flavored liqueur, and maple syrup together. Place the shaker top or jar lid on the shaker or jar and carefully shake for 10 to 15 seconds.
