This delicious Almond Milk Frappuccino is a dairy-free classic coffeehouse beverage that is served cold and only requires five simple ingredients plus a blender. Try making it yourself at home anytime!

This drink is inspired by a classic coffeehouse favorite and pairs well with a freshly baked batch of Maple Pecan Scones and if you prefer using oat milk, try making an Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso instead.

I love making coffeehouse drinks at home and one of my favorite things is the blended frappe with almond milk.

It is simple, classic, and perfect to replicate at home. The ingredients are super simple and can be topped with whipped topping and a drizzle of syrup to make it more decadent.

Let's get started!

What is a Frappuccino?

A frappe or frappuccino is an iced coffee beverage that is blended or shaken to create a tasty drink. It is served cold and can be topped with whipped cream, flavored syrups, drizzles, and sprinkles. It contains coffee but some can often feel like having a dessert beverage.

Ingredient You'll Need

Overhead view of ingredients needed to make frappe in separate containers.
  1. Espresso - Pairs well with milk and ice. If not available, use strongly brewed coffee.
  2. Almond Milk - This dairy-free nut milk option adds to the thickness and creamy flavor of the coffee drink.
  3. Sugar - For this recipe, try using granulated sugar, light brown sugar, or pure cane sugar for sweetness.
  4. Almond Extract - Make sure that it is pure almond extract. Only a small amount is needed for flavor. If you don't have any available, then vanilla extract is a great substitute.
  5. Ice - Needed to make this frozen coffee drink. Use as much or as little as you prefer. Try freezing from coffee and using coffee ice cubes for a stronger coffee flavor.

See the recipe card below for exact ingredient quantities and instructions.

Use Espresso or Coffee?

You want to use espresso or strongly brewed coffee to make a frappe. The milk will dilute the espresso and it will not be overly noticeable in the taste. You may also use premade cold brew espresso to make this drink as well.

How to Make an Almond Milk Frappuccino

Begin the recipe by making the espresso. Use a machine or combine instant espresso with hot water and stir. You need enough to create two double shots of espresso.

In a blender pitcher, add the espresso, almond milk, sugar, almond extract, and ice. Blend on low speed before increasing to high during the last second until smooth.

Pour the frappe into one large glass or two medium glasses and serve immediately. For a little something extra, add some whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Enjoy!

Recipe Variations & Tips

  • To make the espresso, use an espresso machine, Nespresso machine with an espresso pod, premade cold brew espresso, or strongly brewed coffee. Any of these drink options will work for this coffee.
  • Feel free to use more sugar for a sweeter beverage or less sugar if you prefer less sweetness.
  • This recipe is made with almond milk, but feel free to use oat milk, whole milk, or any other kind of milk that you prefer.
  • Serve the frappe shortly after it has been made.

Equipment Needed

To make a frappuccino, you will need a blender! Any blender will work and it does not necessarily have to be a high powered expensive blender. The blender that I use and love is a Vitamix Professional Series 750.

This was my first time making a frappe. I’m glad to know that it really simple and just as good as Starbucks. Making my own frappes is going to save me a lot money. Thanks!

The Wiz was my childhood favorite. I quote it all the time! Ease on down the road! I had a wicked crush on Michael Jackson, so that didn't hurt.
Beautiful smoothie recipe too. I like the crushed ice idea. I'll make them for my husband and me.
