This almond milk frappuccino is the easiest Starbucks-style blended coffee drink you can make at home. It's creamy, dairy-free, and ready in about 5 minutes with espresso (or strong coffee), almond milk, ice, and a little sweetness.

Updated January 12, 2026: Updated the post title and description for clarity, added Starbucks-style flavor options, expanded FAQs (including "frappuccino with almond milk"), and included thicker-texture tips. Originally posted December 02, 2015.

If you love coffeehouse drinks but don't love the coffeehouse line, you're in the right place. I'm LaKita, home cook and recipe creator behind Simply LaKita, where I share modern comfort food (and cozy drinks) that feel special but stay simple.

Pair it with your Blueberry Muffins for a "coffee + pastry" moment, or keep the dairy-free vibe going with your Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso.

Before You Blend

Time needed: 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Tools: Blender & espresso maker (or strong coffee)

Overhead view of ingredients needed to make frappe in separate containers.

How to get that thick, coffeehouse texture

  • Use crushed ice (or pulse cubes first). More ice = thicker drink.
  • Freeze coffee into ice cubes for a bolder coffee flavor that doesn't get watery.
  • Choose a creamier almond milk (barista blend, extra creamy, or vanilla almond milk if you like it sweeter).

Espresso vs. coffee

Espresso gives you the boldest "frappuccino" flavor, but strong brewed coffee or cold brew works perfectly here.

Starbucks-style flavor add-ins (optional)

  • Vanilla: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or a splash of vanilla syrup)
  • Mocha: 1 tablespoon cocoa powder + extra sweetener to taste
  • Caramel: drizzle inside the glass + on top (very coffeehouse, very cute)

Spanish search helper (one line)
En español: frappe con leche de almendras (bebida fría de café licuada, sin lácteos).

Notes

  • To make the espresso, use an espresso machine, Nespresso machine with an espresso pod, premade cold brew espresso, or strongly brewed coffee. Any of these drink options will work for this coffee.
  • Feel free to use more sugar for a sweeter beverage or less sugar if you prefer less sweetness.
  • This recipe is made with almond milk, but feel free to use oat milk, whole milk, or any other kind of milk that you prefer.
  • Serve the frappe shortly after it has been made.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get a Frappuccino with almond milk at Starbucks?

Yes, most Frappuccinos can be made with almond milk. This homemade version gives you that same creamy, blended vibe at home.

How do I make this frappuccino thicker (like Starbucks)?

Use crushed ice, add a bit more ice, and blend longer. For extra thickness, use coffee ice cubes instead of regular ice.

What's the best almond milk for a frappuccino?

"Extra creamy" or "barista blend" almond milk usually blends up the smoothest and gives you a richer texture.

Can I make this without almond extract?

Absolutely, swap in vanilla extract, or skip the extract completely and use a flavored syrup.

How can I make it less sweet?

Start with 1 tablespoon sugar (or your preferred sweetener), blend, taste, and adjust.

I'm super excited about The Wiz tonight too. I think it's going to be a really good show. My favorite songs are 'Ease on Down the Road, 'Mean Ole Lion', and 'Can't You Feel a Brand New Day'.

The Wiz was my childhood favorite. I quote it all the time! Ease on down the road! I had a wicked crush on Michael Jackson, so that didn't hurt.
Beautiful smoothie recipe too. I like the crushed ice idea. I'll make them for my husband and me.
