The Kombucha Margarita is the perfect refreshing cocktail to sit back and enjoy. Made with few ingredients including your favorite flavor kombucha and tequila. Make one for yourself and another to share.

Recently on Instagram, I asked my followers how they felt about Margarita Mondays and the overwhelming response was a YES!

Basically I get it. Things are crazy, many of us are still spending lots of time at home, and making a delicious cocktail should not be complicated and require a bunch of ingredients. Plus margaritas are delicious and one of my favorite mixed drinks to sip on. So with that being, over the next few weeks, I will be sharing a new margarita recipe on Monday.

Last week I kicked things off with a spicy jalapeno margarita and today I will be sharing a simple recipe for a margarita made with your favorite kombucha.

    What is kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented drink made with lightly sweetened black tea or green tea. It has a slight fizz to it and a slight acidic/vinegar taste to it. There are several health benefits to kombucha including being rich in probiotics that can aid in good gut bacteria. You can make it yourself or purchase the many brands available in grocery stores and supermarkets.

For this recipe, I chose to use Health-Ade Blood Orange Carrot Ginger. However, feel free to use any flavor or brand that you prefer.

What ingredients for this kombucha margarita recipe?

    ingredients needed for kombucha margarita

    1. Tequila
    2. Kombucha (any brand and flavor you prefer)
    3. Orange juice or Cointreau
    4. Lime (juice and wedge)
    5. Maple syrup
    6. Salt or sugar
    7. Ice

How to make this kombucha cocktail:

Begin the recipe by using a cocktail shaker or jar with a lid to combine together the tequila, kombucha, orange juice or Cointreau, lime juice, and maple syrup together.

jar with ingredients for kombucha margarita in it next to bottle of kombucha

Place the top/lid on the shaker or jar and carefully shake for 10 to 15 seconds.

hand holding jar with lid on it with ingredient for margarita inside of it.

Grab your favorite glass and rub the rim with a slice of lime for the lime juice. Rub this part of the glass in salt or sugar until the rim of the glass is completely covered. Add ice into the glass.

Pour the mixture from the shaker or jar into the glass. Top with a lime wedge for garnish. Serve and enjoy!

Tips to make the best kombucha margarita recipe:

    • Use any flavor and brand kombucha that you prefer. Add in garnish to compliment the flavor kombucha that you select. For strawberry, garnish with a fresh sliced strawberry.
    • Be sure to use fresh lime juice for this recipe. Three tablespoons are approximately the juice of 1 ½ small limes.
    • Rim the glass with salt or sugar. If you prefer to use salt, use coarse sea salt or kosher salt. For a sweet margarita, rim the glass with raw sugar.
    • If this margarita is too strong in terms of alcohol, adjust to your preference or allow the ice to melt a little before drinking to dilute. You may also add additional orange juice to the drink if it is still too strong.
