Jump to Recipe

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies is a simple and delicious cookie recipe. It makes a dozen cookies and the best refrigerated cookie dough that you will want to keep on hand to make cookies on the ready.

Do you have any refrigerator cookie dough in your refrigerator right now?

You know the dough that you buy that is next to the eggs and butter at the grocery store.

These cookies come in a convenient ready to bake package that makes it easy for you to have cookies at any time simply by popping them into the oven. These cookies are great and I have purchased them many, many times...especially the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.

But what if I told you that you can make these cookies yourself and have the same cookie dough ready to go in your refrigerator or even your freeze and it will not even take you much time or ingredients. Would you give it a try?

Well, in that case, let's get started!

What ingredients are needed for easy chocolate chip cookies?

  1. All-purpose flour
  2. Baking soda
  3. Salt
  4. Butter
  5. Brown sugar
  6. Granulated sugar
  7. Egg
  8. Vanilla extractย
  9. Semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

In a small bowl, add the flour, baking soda, and salt and lightly whisk just until it is combined and set aside.

Slowly add in the dry flour mixture and add it in a little at a time until all of the flour mixture is combined into the batter and you do not see any traces of flour left in the batter. Be careful not to over mix or you will have tough cookies.

Set the electric mixer aside and fold in the chocolate chips using a wooden spoon or plastic spatula until they are well distributed evenly throughout the cookie batter.

Place the cookie dough on some plastic wrap and pop into the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (until firm) or until you are ready to bake them. If you decide to only bake a few at a time, this cookie dough will last in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks and if you need longer time then that you may freeze it for up to 1 month.

When you are ready to bake, remove the chocolate chip cookie dough from the refrigerator and using a knife divide the dough into 12 even cookies. Roll each cookie into a ball and place on a cookie sheet that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Leave 1 to 2 inches between each cookie dough ball/scoop because they will spread during the cooking process.

Place the chocolate chip cookies into the oven and bake at 325 degrees F. for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown. Remove from the cookies from the baking sheet and place on a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely before serving.

This is my new go to recipe for chocolate chip cookies! User error - I left out the egg and the vanilla by accident. But they still tasted great.

I think that's great! I'm a complete sucker for anything chocolate chip cookie related. And I like to keep dough around because you never know when you'll need it.
