These Ground Beef Tacos are filled with flavorful ground beef and a homemade taco seasoning that comes together in a crunchy shell with your favorite toppings.
Begin the recipe by making the taco meat. Add the 1 pound ground beef using a large skillet or large braiser over medium-high heat.
While the meat cooks, continuously break it into small pieces using a meat chopper or wooden spoon. Cook the meat until it is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Carefully drain off any excess grease.
Add the ¾ cup chopped onion and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until it begins to soften.
Add 1 tablespoon chili powder, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon oregano, ½ teaspoon paprika, 1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon ground black pepper.
Stir to combine add the 1 cup water and reduce the heat to medium low. Cook uncovered stirring frequently until the liquid has reduced and the mixture has thickened, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Bake the taco shells in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes. After baking, remove from the oven, and use a spoon to divide the meat filling evenly among the 8 crunchy taco shells.
Top with your favorite topping like shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, more cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.
Serve immediately while the tacos are still warm and enjoy!
