Equipment

  • 1 Large Stock Pot or Dutch Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground mild or hot Italian sausage
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 14.5 ounces chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¾ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 15.8 ounces great northern beans, drained and rinsed
  • 16 ounces garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions

  • Begin the recipe with a large stock pot, add the 1 pound of ground sausage and cook over medium-high heat until it is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease/oil if necessary before moving on to the next step.
  • With the pot still over medium-high heat, add in the 14.5 ounce can of diced tomatoes, 14.5 ounces chicken broth, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, ¾ teaspoon dried rosemary, and ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the soup to a rolling boil and add in the 15.8 ounces of northern beans and 16 ounces of garbanzo beans.
  • Allow the soup to cook until heated through, about 3 to 4 minutes. Adjust the heat to low and allow it to simmer for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. Serve the soup while it is still warm with your favorite bread. Enjoy!
