The truth is that looking for and making up recipes to try in my kitchen has always been something that I have done. I would do it whether I was blogging or not. The recipes I try out are always tested on my family and some pass the test and I make them again, but some do fail and I never make those again.
Even a recipe or two that I have made on this blog my family has advised me never to make those again. The main way that I know a recipe is a ‘do over’ is if it does not last in the house long, but if something lingers around and I eventually end up throwing it away in the trash…that lets me know that recipe was not a success. Some times I am able to recover by tweaking a few of the ingredients to make it a recipe that I can make again and again. Other times…not so much!
Just remember cooking/baking is just like life…it will not ever be perfect. But if you do give it a try, then have fun and enjoy it…make a mess…burn something…create…learn…grow…get better. After all it is your kitchen so you can do whatever you want in it. Take some risk and step outside of your comfort zone and you may just find something new that you love.

February 6, 2014 at 3:56 PMIt’s the same way at my house. If it lasts more than a few days, I know it wasn’t a hit. Your dairy free chocolate cake is never around for long!
I love your perspective on cooking though, it is just like life!
