Easy Iced Coffee at Home recipe made using 4 simple ingredients. This coffee is perfect for those time when you can’t make it to the coffee house.
I shared with you recently that I went from having no cats to 7 cats, and then 1 cat…Whoa, it has been quite a journey. A journey that has been filled with endless cups of coffee and since I do indeed live in Florida and it is way too hot to have endless cups of hot coffee, then I decided to give iced coffee a try and have fallen in love with it. I will share with you exactly how I make my iced coffee right at home but first more about the cat situation.
There was a momma cat dropped off at my job and she was pregnant, due to have kittens any day, and since I felt sorry for her I first tried to find a rescue facility that could take her in. This was unsuccessful due to the cat/kitten season being very heavy this time of year and the local facilities were all overrun with both and actually had a waiting list. Unfortunately, this momma was not going to be able to wait to be taken in. I even expanded my search to facilities outside of my area, but still close by, and even that was not happening.
So I decided to take her into my home, but since I had no idea what to do during the birth process and was also going on vacation, a co-worker decided to take her in until I returned from my trip if I promised to pick her up. I agreed, went on my trip, and returned to find that momma cat had a total of 6 kittens…3 females and 3 males. Everyone was doing well and was taken nervously into my home.
At this point, I will share with you that I was completely nervous about how my dog, Shakespeare would feel about sharing a home with them or if the momma cat would even be able to handle being around a dog. Surprisingly momma cat had no problems being around a dog, I’m guessing this was an experience she had with her previous home, and Shakespeare was okay with sharing his space with her and became very overprotective of the kittens.
Day to day life was busy, to say the least and I cannot tell you the number of cleaning wipes that I found myself using; my OCD for everything being clean completely took over. The kittens figured out how to escape the confines of their box, moved to a bigger box…outgrew that…became confined to the laundry room…decided sleeping piled on top of each other behind the dryer while it was running was their favorite way to sleep.
All company was completely in awe of the kittens and couldn’t figure out why momma cat still didn’t have a name. I would say because I could not come up with a name that fit, but my son Michael would share that he felt I was still not sure if I was keeping her or not and thus giving her a name would have been pointless.
The 8 weeks flew by and the kittens were weaned and ready for new homes. With the help of a local cat rescue, they were all able to find their forever homes quickly and also provided assistance with momma being spayed. Momma cat was harder to be placed and so just like that my home became hers. She has adjusted very well and since she loves to talk (meow) to me so much…Gabby was/is a perfect name for her.
