Want to make a cheap and easy homemade pasta sauce??
I got you….
This sauce is so quick and easy to make and I love the idea that I know and have control over the ingredients that go into it. Instead of dried herbs please feel free to use fresh basil, oregano, and rosemary if you would like…I also chose to use organic canned crushed tomatoes, but you may also cook up some fresh diced tomatoes and blend until your desired textured instead. As I always say…its your kitchen, so do whatever you want! You truly cannot mess this sauce up it is such a fool proof recipe.
This homemade pasta sauce is also so versatile that it can be used on pizza, pasta, vegetables, or really anything that requires pasta sauce.
Homemade Pasta Sauce Ingredients: (You probably already have most if not all of these items)
- 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 Tablespoon dried basil
- 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 Tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Add all ingredients into a medium saucepan and bring to low boil on medium high heat.
Then cover, turn the heat down to low, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes to allow all of those wonderful flavors to come together.
Then use immediately or store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to a week or in the freezer for 6 months.
With my sauce, I decided to make a homemade pizza using Pillsbury’s Classic Pizza Crust (in you refrigerator section of the grocery store), shredded cheese, pepperoni, cooked ground Italian sausage, and some grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese on the very top. This pizza was so fresh and delicious that there was barely any left.
Give it a try and let me know how it turns out for you in comments section below. I would love to hear.
