{Day 5} My 7 Day Juice Fast Journey

Day 5 of My 7-Day Juice Fast Journey.

Today is Friday…TGIF…Day 5 of my 7 Day Juice Fast 🙂

Even though I only have 2 days left of my 7-day juice fast, the real challenge will be making it through the weekend. It will actually be my first weekend since I began the juice fast and the food is usually a big part of my weekends. A friend of mine asked me out to lunch today and I declined because I already knew the temptation that it would bring. I never actually realized exactly how much of my social life involves food until now.

This morning I woke up at 4: 00 am …super early and I was wide awake. Like ready to make some juice and go to the gym awake. Since I didn’t want to wake up the rest of my family (plus I don’t think the gym was even open) I just watched the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead again to motivate me to continue on this week-long journey. If you have never watched it, then be sure to check it out because it is a very interesting and motivating documentary about a man on a 60-day juice fast.

Recap Time…

~Weight Loss-I did weight myself today and I lost 3.5 lbs. since the last time, I weighed myself on Wednesday. This makes my total weight loss so far 5.5 lbs. in 5 days. Pretty Awesome Right!!

~Sleep-I won’t repeat myself here since we already covered that earlier.

~Symptoms-Slight headache towards the end of the day and I was a little bit snappy today. Also today I felt like I may have needed to drink a lil sumthin sumthin called Smooth Move tea if you know what I mean <wink wink>. Since my body does not have any food to push the sludge out of my intestines it may require a little assistance in this area. Remember I promised you the good, bad, and ugly side of juicing.

Well, let me tell you that my symptoms have been pretty mild and that is probably due to the fact that I began eating a raw food diet 2 months prior to the beginning of my 7-day juice fast. Let me share with you that some of the detox symptoms can be pretty severe and may include headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, fatigue, coated tongue, and body odor. Not so sexy right. When you have had an unhealthy diet for many years and you choose to take on a juice fast…your body has a chance to rest, heal, and repair itself from those years. Think about it like this, if you fall and scrape your knee…it will be bloody, painful, and later itchy. However, your body will heal your knee on its own if you just leave it alone. During a juice fast, you are leaving your body alone and discomfort is a simple part of the healing process. Detoxing is a good thing…it means your body is releasing toxins. Be sure to drink lots of water to flush those puppies out of your body.
