Thank you to Silk for sponsoring today’s post. This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Silk. The opinions and text are all mines.

I do not remember exactly how old I was the first time that I ever had a sip of coffee. I do however know that I was a young child when I asked my grandmother if I could have a sip of her coffee and she gave me a look before grabbing a small cup out of the cabinet and pouring me an exact sip followed by a heaping tablespoon of creamer. It was at that very moment that I fell in love with coffee.

Growing up, coffee was a constant staple in my house. My dad would have his morning coffee, black with lots of sugar, before rushing out the door to go to work. My mother would savor her coffee each morning, with little to no sugar and lots of creamer. Breakfast with my larger extended family would have grits, eggs, and endless cups of piping hot coffee. And after dinner conversation would always have a side of something sweet and coffee.

I remember watching coffee being made through the years in a metal French press, my grandmother’s percolator, with instant coffee granules, and coffee makers of various shapes and sizes. Regardless of how the coffee was made, it would always be steamy and prepared with your choice of sweetener and creamer.

As an adult, I will share with you that not much has changed. I still love coffee and like my mother I love to have my coffee with very little sweetener and a big splash of creamer.

However, my stomach cannot handle too much dairy creamer these days and knowing that I set out to find a non-dairy creamer that would still taste delicious in my coffee. Luckily, I found Silk Almond Creamer and quickly fell in love with their vanilla flavored creamer, which has a nutty flavor, with a hint of vanilla, subtle sweetness, and is totally lactose-free and dairy-free.

    Plus…

Silk Almond Creamer taste great in my morning coffee which I like to sip on while listening to my favorite audiobook or podcast and check my list of things that I need to accomplish for the day. Having this time to myself first thing in the morning definitely sets my day up for success.

I don’t drink coffee. Shocking, I know. But, sometimes I like to put creamer in my tea 🙂

Scarlet always says that coffee doesn’t appeal to her, but I remember being younger than her and begging for a sip from my parents. It’s one of the greatest smells/tastes on earth! Always good to find ways to make it even better!

I can definitely relate to all the adults in my family drinking coffee while growing up. However, I never wanted any of it..lol. Back then coffee was pretty plain. However, now there all sorts of flavors and creamers for coffee.

That is so true! Coffee was pretty plain back in the day. I think my parents used either half and half or milk and nothing else. Now, my dad still uses half and half, but my mom prefers flavored creamer 🙂
